Dahlonega seems remote, how will I like living in the country?
Dahlonega is the gateway to the North Georgia Mountains, and living here does seem like living a million miles from the city. The truth is, Dahlonega is only 63 miles from the city of Atlanta, and Achasta is only a few miles away from GA 400, providing easy access to the north Atlanta suburbs and Atlanta. In very little time residents can reach civic and sports events, malls and shopping, and an unlimited range of services. Also, the city of Dahlonega is a bustling and growing town. It is home to a major university and a full service hospital, and has well managed government services. Lumpkin county is home to wineries, businesses, festivals, and even the US Army Ranger mountain training facility. But what you will like the most is the people. They are as nice, and friendly, as you will find anywhere.
What are the schools like?
Achasta is served by the Lumpkin County School District. This is an excellent school system. The teachers and administration are focused on one thing, helping each and every student learn and grow. What is the weather like?
Dahlonega is located enough south to avoid extreme cold in the winter (average high is about 50 degrees, average low about 30 degrees), and due to the elevation avoids extreme heat in the summer (average high is in mid 80s, average low about 60). See climate map. It will snow once or twice a year and it doesn’t stay on the ground very long. The spring time brings an explosion of north Georgia flora that is absolutely gorgeous. Wild dogwood trees are everywhere. But to many the fall is the best time of the year. The weather and ambiance are spectacular. You will at times pinch yourself to make sure you are not dreaming.

Why are you selling the house?
This home is the most comfortable and enjoyable home I have ever lived in. The people in Achasta and Dahlonega are among the most friendly people I have ever met. A day rarely goes by without my being the recipient of a random act of kindness. However, I have recently had a life changing event and will be unable to keep the home. I know the new owners will enjoy it as much as I have.
